Technical NotesThe HP 2-line Customer Display Kit must be connected to COM1 or COM2 port. It should not be connected to COM3 port as COM 3 does not support DC5V. Connecting the HP 2-line Customer Display to COM3 port may cause damage. Both COM 1 and COM 2 can be powered with 5V through BIOS setup. When the HP Customer Display is HP factory preinstalled it is attached to COM 2 port. The following diagram illustrates the HP ap5000 I/O ports layout.
