Bought this at the Cambridge, ON store looking for a replacement for my aging Z170 based system with an i5-6600K. This is a Zen 3 processor (socket AM4) and for the price you get a sweet CPU with 8 cores and 16 threads, with 32MB of L3 cache! I only had a Hyper 212 EVO to cool it with so I downclocked mine to 4.2 GHz on all cores from the default 4.5, which it does at only 1 volt! Mine runs cool even with the marginal air cooler and performance is awesome!

I purchased this to upgrade from a 3700x. I could not be happier with my decision to upgrade. I saw a big boost in fps in cpu bound games like csgo and valorant.

Although my computer was no slouch before this upgrade, it is now more responsive and I find it to be a smoother experience.

Amd continues to deliver quality and performance w every Zen generation. Upgraded from a Ryzen 7 1800X to this, and despite being same core count and only slightly faster, overall improvement on my gaming rig is noticeable and substantial. Super happy. Soldier of a CPU with the right settings

Everyone knows it's a hot piece of hardware. AMD claims it's normal which is fine, but it just needs some changes in certain settings and then it can run cooler for the same performance, with the potential or being slightly better than advertised. A couple youtube videos and the temps were no longer a concern. Just need to do your research when picking your parts so you don't close doors on yourself unnecessarily.

Multi core and single core performance ! Ryzen 5000 curve optimizer feature in Bios Works with B450 motherboards

105W No cooler included

This CPU is a nice upgrade from Ryzen 3600. The CPU gets better results in synthetic benchmarks and Windows 10 definitely feels more responsive with Ryzen 5800x.
There is big difference in game performance with both average FPS and Low 1% FPS being much higher with Ryzen 5000. This CPU is rated for 105W TDP so it will need good cooling. The good news is that this CPU has eco mode of 65W and it can be undervolted with curve optimizer option which will keep CPU cool and it will increase performance headroom. Curve optimizer is available through BIOS. Overall 5800x is an awesome CPU with a lot of power for gaming and for work.

Very fast CPU, good temps when combined with a high end cooler

High temps if not using high end cooling

Got as an upgrade from a Ryzen 5 3600. Massive improvement in game performance for games that are CPU bottlenecked. Temps were high at first but very reasonable when combined with a case with good airflow and a good CPU cooler. With the good cooling, idles around 35C in Windows and peaks around 70C for most games I play.
