Awkward, but effective. - 06/21/2014 13:05:46

Rating: 4 of 5 Stars! [4 of 5 Stars!]

Strength:
Great performance for the price and runs silently. Easy, but awkward to install.

Weakness:
Very odd shape with the fan attached. May want to occupy the same physical space as a RAM module on your Mother Board.

Summary:
I had to cut away a portion of the "cage" around the fan in order to install it. Otherwise it would have occupied some of the same physical space as one of my ram modules. Other than that, it performs very well for the price.

dead silent with cpu near idle - 06/06/2014 23:09:17

Rating: 4 of 5 Stars! [4 of 5 Stars!]

Strength:
quiet out of the box. compact drops the temp about 10C.

Weakness:
strange cpu attachment/mounting base.

Summary:
I was a little hesitant about this but once plugged in was pleasantly surprised by the quietness of the unit.

Silent but oddly shaped - 05/23/2013 19:54:48

Rating: 3 of 5 Stars! [3 of 5 Stars!]

Strength:
Almost dead silent when pumping 120 watts. Nicely priced among the competition.

Weakness:
AM3 mount is a bit of a kludge- unlike AMD OEM heatsinks which are tool-free using a cam lever and a couple of (captive) clips, this thing requires you to manipulate two awkwardly placed non-captive screws and separate clips as you mount it. The base of the fin stack is a bit wider than standard spec, so it hits the first memory module if you're using heat spreaders on the RAM. Not too hard to solve if you cut 7mm off the bottom corner of the fin stack, but there's a reason why there are standard specs for component dimensions.

Summary:
I'm happy with it, but what should have been a 5-minute install took 30 because of the clearance problem.

Great cooler - 04/29/2011 14:38:17

Rating: 5 of 5 Stars! [5 of 5 Stars!]

Strength:
* not very expensive * fairly easy to install * great cooling

Weakness:
* none - does exactly what I wanted it to

Summary:
I bought this to pair with a new Intel E5800 CPU that I intended to overclock. I noticed my old E2180 was running a bit hot with the stock cooler; 33C idle temp. This cooler installed no problem on my Gigabyte GA-G31-S2L without having to remove the mobo from the case. It can be a bit tricky to screw it in though so I recommend a very thin screwdriver if you are doing it in the case. The Freezer brings my overclocked CPU to an idle temp of 19C which is lower than the room I'm in! Under high load the CPU peaked at 41 C but quickly dropped back down once back at the desktop. I am very pleased with the performance of this unit. Well worth the price. I also wrote a review of the E5800 on CC.

Cooler and mobo fitting - 11/12/2010 10:44:07

Rating: 4 of 5 Stars! [4 of 5 Stars!]

Strength:
Quiet and efficient.

Weakness:
On a Gigabyte ep43-ud3l, the north bridge heat sink gets in the way of the cooler's fan's frame.

Summary:
I have no complains about the cooler, however, I have a gigabyte ep43-ud3l mobo and I had to cut out a bit one of the corners of the fan's frame to be able to fit it on the heat sink because the north bridge heat sink gets on its way.
