The Hyper 212 EVO cooling systems are designed and optimized to provide the best user experience and cooling potential for a new generation of processors. The Hyper 212 EVO now features four Cooler Master patented Continuous Direct Contact™ (CDC) heat pipes that are tightly packed into a flat array on the CPU Cooler base. This acts as a virtual vapor chamber that dissipates a large amount of heat. The aluminum fin structure has been optimized to provide the perfect performance balance between high and low speed fan operations.
Features
  • Well-balanced cooling performance provides fin optimizations with perfect balance between high and low speed operations.
  • 4 Direct Contact heat pipes with the patented CDC™ (Continuous Direct Contact) technology - creating a perfect, sleek surface for heat conduction.
  • Wide-range PWM fan with unique wave-shaped blade design for excellent airflow.
  • Versatile all-in-one mounting solution supporting the latest Intel 2011/1366/1156/1155/775 and AMD FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible - 04/26/2015 22:38:04

Rating: 1 of 5 Stars! [1 of 5 Stars!]

Strength:
None whatsoever, based on the fact I was never able to get it properly installed.

Weakness:
-The standoffs are too large for my 'supported' motherboard -The supplied screws are too small to properly attach the plate to the motherboard -The directions are ambiguous, poorly written, and have some of the least helpful illustrations I have ever seen in a technical document. What's worse, the font size in this document is virtually unreadable -The 'X' bracket will not connect correctly to the plate on the motherboard. It is virtually impossible to hold the bracket in place while attempting to tighten the screws

Summary:
-If you enjoy assembling large pieces of furniture from IKEA, then this is the after market cooling solution you've been hoping for -If you're a normal user, or even someone with some PC building experience, skip this and look into some of the excellent liquid cooling options now on the market

Mechanical Engineer's Perspective - 04/05/2014 11:08:20

Rating: 5 of 5 Stars! [5 of 5 Stars!]

Strength:
The BIGGEST STRENGTH this heat sink has through its HEAT TRANSFER MECHANICS. Firstly, It uses HEAT PIPES to transfer heat away from your CPU and into the heat sink. This is more effective when compared to stock options which only transfer heat via direct contact or CONDUCTION. Secondly, the SIZE of this heat sink is huge. This is a GOOD thing. Bigger heat sinks mean bigger heat transfer surface area, which means even higher heat transfer rates; All for lower temperatures. Coupled with a fan of the same size for CONVECTION and you're golden.

Weakness:
THE biggest weakness is by far the NOISE. But that is common with anything that has oscillation. OSCILLATION causes VIBRATIONS and vibrations causes NOISE. This fan spins at a rate of 2000 Revolutions Per Minute. So it does give off noticable noise. However, this can be controlled via software if your mother board supports it. With software, you can limit the RPM of the fan or even have it fluctate in relationship to the CPU temperature. At around 1000 RPM (which is what I set it to) the noise is significantly reduce and is no longer an issue. Along with the strengths listed above, there is still enough air flow to keep things cooled. Price is also a weakness. However, I believe it may be worth the value to have all the critical isses surrounding heat transfer dealth with.

Awesome HSF! - 03/16/2014 00:16:18

Rating: 5 of 5 Stars! [5 of 5 Stars!]

Strength:
Very Quite. Very proficient.

Weakness:
None.

Summary:
I bought this for my i5-2500k OC'd @ 4 GhZ and it works perfectly. Super easy to install, extremely quite, and it does a great job at keeping the CPU cool. The CPU idles at about 28-32 degrees Celsius, hits 50-55 degrees under regular load; _66 degrees under 100% stress test @ 15 minutes. Ambient room temperature roughly 24 degrees.

Great Value - 02/08/2014 13:20:42

Rating: 4 of 5 Stars! [4 of 5 Stars!]

Strength:
- Very good Cooling Performance - Can add a second fan - great instruction manual

Weakness:
- a little more difficult to install - take up a lot of room near the ram

Summary:
Unless you're going water cooling there isn't much better than this cooler in this price range. I've installed many of these in builds and it gets easier to install them after the first couple times.
