The Hyper 212 EVO cooling systems are designed and optimized to provide the best user experience and cooling potential for a new generation of processors. The Hyper 212 EVO now features four Cooler Master patented Continuous Direct Contact? (CDC) heat pipes that are tightly packed into a flat array on the CPU Cooler base. This acts as a virtual vapor chamber that dissipates a large amount of heat. The aluminum fin structure has been optimized to provide the perfect performance balance between high and low speed fan operations.

A Must Have! - 07/20/2016 18:36:13

Rating: 5 of 5 Stars! [5 of 5 Stars!]

This one is a huge difference from my stock cooler! My previous stock cooler had a maximum temp of around 64°C, which is pretty hot for a CPU. My CPU is the AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz at stock speed and voltage. I installed this then overclocked my CPU to 4.0GHz with the stock Vcore(left on "AUTO") to match the FX-8350 CPU. My maximum temp goes up to 43°C only!! There's still more room for overclocking. Gonna overclock it to 4.4GHz and it's going to be much stronger. Here's some helpful information for overclocking the FX-8320: - 4.0GHz at stock Vcore (AUTO) - 4.4GHz at 1.435v Vcore (set manually) Got this info from a guy who had the best answer on the "Tom's Hardware" website. He also has an FX-8320.

- Very difficult to install - Somewhat large

An excellent cooler and a must have, especially if your CPU's maximum temperature is above 60. Also a very good cooler for overclocking and it's very quiet compared to the stock coolers!

Great CPU cooler! - 06/23/2016 17:52:05

Rating: 5 of 5 Stars! [5 of 5 Stars!]

Just picked this up today at CC in Waterloo, ON. The Hyper 212 Evo has been around a while, and provides excellent cooling on my own system. I have an Asus P5Q motherboard with a Q9650, and it's not a "great" Q9650--it has a VID of 1.3V which is really high (bad, hot running chip), and running it at 1.406V I can overclock it to 4.0+ GHz using this cooler without exceeding about 62-65 degrees C core temp (max is about 95 deg. C) with 100% load on all cores. For such an ancient rig, that's doing really well! At stock voltages and clock rates (3.0 GHz), this easily keeps it very cool even at the lowest possible fan speeds. When seriously overclocked, the fan that comes with this cooler allows me to exceed 4 GHz quite easily without running into over-temp problems with my Q9650--and the fan is very quiet, even at full speed. The fan is a PWM unit and plugs into a 4-pin motherboard connector. Heat sink grease (TIM) is supplied with this cooler and I used the supplied grease. Seems like very good stuff, I wouldn't bother buying anything extra or expensive. I lapped both my CPU IHS and this cooler's base plate with sandpaper on plate glass before installing.

A little pricey, considering how long it's been around. Not really a problem when you consider how well it works. Installation requires a motherboard backplate, so you have to remove the mobo and also remove the existing backplate. A bit of a pain in the posterior, but done with simple tools. Personally, I would have preferred a ball bearing fan, but this one is rated for 40,000 hours or 5 years. Should be OK for a while.

To squeeze a lot more speed and life out of older processors, this is actually a great deal! Helped turn my old clunker into a nice zippy gaming rig :)

Works extremely well - 06/13/2016 20:09:53

Rating: 4 of 5 Stars! [4 of 5 Stars!]

Dropped my CPU temp from around 65 degrees C to 44 degrees C. I was previously using a Freezer 11LP on my Xeon E5450 that had been modded to work in an LGA775 motherboard. I was getting unexpected crashes that I couldn't quite identify the root cause, but I felt the temperature was higher than I liked with my previous cooler. The fan is extremely quiet on it as well. The mounting hardware feels solid.

It is a very large cooler and was difficult to install. The case I have allowed for me to leave the motherboard in place.

An excellent cooler if you have the appropriate case. I would rate this 5/5 if it was a little bit easier to install.

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible - 04/26/2015 22:38:04

Rating: 1 of 5 Stars! [1 of 5 Stars!]

None whatsoever, based on the fact I was never able to get it properly installed.

-The standoffs are too large for my 'supported' motherboard -The supplied screws are too small to properly attach the plate to the motherboard -The directions are ambiguous, poorly written, and have some of the least helpful illustrations I have ever seen in a technical document. What's worse, the font size in this document is virtually unreadable -The 'X' bracket will not connect correctly to the plate on the motherboard. It is virtually impossible to hold the bracket in place while attempting to tighten the screws

-If you enjoy assembling large pieces of furniture from IKEA, then this is the after market cooling solution you've been hoping for -If you're a normal user, or even someone with some PC building experience, skip this and look into some of the excellent liquid cooling options now on the market

SOO COLD!! - 01/06/2015 22:35:23

Rating: 5 of 5 Stars! [5 of 5 Stars!]

-This heatsync keeps my 8350 at idle temps as low as 12 degrees Celsius -looks really sleak and is designed well. -

stock fan is a little noisy but i really dont care. i may buy a noctua soon.

was a little rough going in but mainly due to my tower's dumb design..

Will keep anything cold - 10/04/2014 23:27:36

Rating: 4 of 5 Stars! [4 of 5 Stars!]

Well i got it for my i7-4790k because the stock cooled couldn't keep it cold even without overclocking and this thing got me down 30 degrees (maybe faulty stock cooler) and even managed to overclock a little, didn't rly need much better.

The cooler master fans are loud!!! It's not gonna wake you up but might keep you from sleeping if it's running close to max, and you can still hear it on low. I suggest getting the enermax that they have at like 10$ it moves a LOT of air and it's as loud as a rock.

Great cooler but makes some noise... just get that enermax it's worth it
