One of my Rogers PVR’s drive was going bad, the recordings would freeze and skip during playback of HD content. Upon opening the PVR it turned out that the drive was 12 year old 500GB WD Green (12 years..Not bad at all)
After replacing the old drive with this 1TB WD Blue, my HD recordings are playing back crystal clear, also the drive runs nice and cool.
Since I can remember I would always get WD Black and Gold drives which BTW. have never failed me and tbh. I thought their Green and Blue drives don’t last long, but after seen that their Green lasted for 12 years running in the PVR non- stop I have no doubt that this Blue drive will last for a while as well.

I use thse WD10EZEX drives since 2013, and I like them

From 26-Dec-2013 to 26-Apr-2018, I bought at Canada Computers, installed and registered at WD Support site 10 (ten) of my WD10EZEX hard drives. I use them for my home and business PC's, also I installed one WD10EZEX for my daughter's PC.
Three of these WD10EZEX HDD's work 24/7. No complains.
I work very carefully with my HDD's, never shake my HDD's, never touch the controller circuit boards, and I maintain normal ambient temperature and humidity.
So far all 10 (ten) of my WD10EZEX work OK, no one failed.
I like this WD10EZEX model for its adequate speed, budget price, for durability and long time dependability.

3 out of 6 failed within warranty
If you purchase the 1tb Blue's, get the CC warranty otherwise WD will send you a refurb
Better yet, get Samsung 850's at CC, usually have a good sale. These have been solid and really fast to date

Have been using for a couple of months now with no problems. Nice and quiet. Win 10 loaded no problems. This is no SSD but I found it to be plenty fast. If you are coming from an older computer with Sata I or II platter drive with little cache, then you will notice a huge difference with this drive. Of course your experience will depend on what kind of system you are coming from or adding it to. To give you an idea, I have Win 10 64 bit, AMD A10-7860K, 8 Gb 2100 DDR3 memory and this drive loads up to the point were you can open apps in less than 25 seconds. My old computer, Vista, AMD 3 core, SATA II Barracuda, 4 Gb 800 DDR2, would take over 1 min 30 sec before you could open apps, and even then the apps would open slowly. Don't know how much difference this drive would have made in my old system but it is plenty fast in my new system.

I wish CC would remove the first review (made on 2013), it was mine, I apologize! I always thought it was my HDD. My system has been suffering and I couldn't figure out the reason yet, it drove me crazy. I had random freezes and crashes, my system was completely new (custom PC) bought from CC. My system was FX-8320, Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 4.0) and Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB(4GBx2) DDR3 1600MHz.
I'm now using the i7-6700K, MSI Gaming Z170A M5 motherboard and G.Skill 16GB(8GBx2) DDR4 3200MHz memory. The stuttering, freezing and crashes were all gone after I upgraded. My system is now extremely smooth. If I'm not mistaken, all the problems came with the memory. There's a Supports Intel logo on its box while my system had the AMD CPU. There are memories that support AMD CPU so I think I made a mistake while purchasing that. It's clearly a compatibility issue that slowed down my entire PC's performance.
I highly recommend this HDD. It's been solid for more than 4 years already and that's great! It never overheats even under heavy load.

The only good thing is that it did not burn out, till it takes my mind out of my head.
1st star took off: I did my 3rd fresh Windows 7 installation and I'm having issues with the upd.s going through this drive, it automatically del.s and losing important information inside my system without warning me or noticing.
2nd star took off: As I read people's comments on this product, rest of them seem to have random freezes with the windows and that's because of this drive is not fully working well. I'm having these freezing problems since I got the product brand new when gaming, using the browsers(I have to wait 1-2 minutes for freezing troubleshooting), the entire system freezes.
3rd star took off: Transfer files inside the disk (program installation, applications, copying and pasting) is way slow! It transfers too slow and I can see the green goes slow as heck in the white/gray bar when loading and transfering, and sometimes the files are being replaced in the disk but showing me the loading image of transfering only!
(Hint: I did the RAM test hardwarely and softwarely with no issues detected.)
4th star took off: FPS(frames per second) drops and extreme bad performance. My FPS was going down when I played games and stuff needed graphics. I realized it's because of this drive. Reason?, When I did my 3rd Windows 7 installation I got back my original FPS (about 80-120 FPS in League of Legends game that my small brother played). Before the Windows installation it had 40-70 FPS. FPS won't drop and come back again if the GPU is bad, it's all about the information that is installed inside hard drive and it's losing itself.
(Video Card: Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition)
5th and the last issue: Getting the "Blue Screen of Death" when I do a random job in my computer. The PC suddenly gets the Blue Screen issue and it takes a moment to fix itself and restart the system again.
I have no idea why WD keep selling this junk product. WD are one of the best hard drive brands but this product is such a terrible and useless drive.
I hope people will listen to me and keep away from this product "Caviar Blue", my PC looks so heavy with this drive. Caviar Green should be used as a secondary drive because it's low in performance. But a drive like Caviar Blue should be banned from the list!
I suggest a Western Digital Caviar Black, Seagate Barracuda, and Seagate's Solid State Hybrid Drive.
