Merchandise Space Planner
Employee with Canada Computers since 2007
My best friend referred me to Canada Computers, and I started working
part-time as a cashier, we had so much fun working together while going to
university. Retail wasn't my thing to begin with as I was working towards pursuing a
career in accounting, but I ended up developing valuable people skills and
discovering my passion towards design and merchandising.
"Retail wasn't my thing to begin with!"
After a few years, I was promoted from cashier to merchandising and eventually a
supervisor role with support from my mentor and manager, my knowledge of the
business, hard work and dedication was noticed by head office, and I was asked to
help with merchandising for all our stores. This developed into a retail operations
specialist role, and I now manage a team of designers. I am excited to continue my
career with Canada Computers and hope that future retail staff are inspired by my
story.

Lead, Category Management
Employee with Canada Computers since 2007
When I was looking for work many moons ago, I saw a job listing in the
Sing Tao newspaper for an administrative role with Canada Computers, from there I
moved from inventory control management and started as a Junior Buyer with very
little experience and knowledge of the industry. I am proud to say that a lot was
self-taught, but I wasn't alone through my interactions and guidance from both peers
and vendors who were happy to guide and teach me. What I enjoy the most about my
career with Canada Computers is the sense of ownership and responsibility to manage
a portion of the business as you're responsible to procure products, set prices,
research your competitors, set goals, revenue, and profit targets to keep your
business running.
"Build trust, be loyal, work hard, you'll be rewarded. No shortcuts."
All my hard work and loyalty to Canada Computers did not go unnoticed by the CEO.
Working directly with senior management I was able to demonstrate my strong work
ethics, gained trust and recognition from them which led to my promotion from Buyer
to Product Manager and now Senior Category Management Lead. As a manager and leader,
I am empowered to replicate my success with new buyers that were in a similar
position as me when I first started, to nurture, coach and train and to see them
succeed in their roles today is rewarding. My advice to potential candidates is to
build trust, be loyal, work hard and you'll be rewarded. No shortcuts. In contrast
to larger corporations that can be challenging to develop your career, Canada
Computers is continuously growing and the perfect company to build and establish
your career.

Store Manager
Employee with Canada Computers since 2007
When I landed as immigrant in Canada, I came across Canada Computers and
found comfort working at a computer parts retailer as I ran my own computer shop to
provide for my family back in my home country. Canada Computers was an easy
transition and the right place for me to start building my life here.
"If you love technology and love the art of technology, you'll want to join us."
I started as a Sales Associate at the Kennedy store and quickly grasped the
operations and processes, many of which were parallel to what I did when I managed
my own business; this led to promotion to supervisor and transfer to the North York
as an Assistant Manager. I was offered an opportunity to become a store manager, but
for a smaller location, which I was hesitant at first, but I accepted the challenge
and felt privileged to witness firsthand the growth from a small store that later
expanded thanks to my team and management capabilities. My reputation and my
experience preceded me; I helped a lot of other stores to replicate my success. I am
passionate about technology and being a leader for my store staff; if you love
technology and love the art of technology, you'll want to join us.

Sales Associate
Employee with Canada Computers since 2014
I was working at a local, family-owned computer store for about 10 years
and the owners had decided to sell the business. Two friends of mine were working at
Canada Computers at the time and had told me about a job opening at the Whitby store
location. My career at Canada Computers started in December 2014. During my first 5
years at the Whitby location, I have transitioned into various roles - cashier,
customer service representative, sales associate, and merchandiser. With my
knowledge of our business operations, willingness to take initiatives and good work
ethics, I am now working towards the Store Supervisor role with the support of my
store manager and assistant store manager. I enjoy working with the great team we
have built here. Working in an environment where we all feel respected has allowed
me to expand my leadership skills and empower each other. I also enjoy helping
customers make the best choice for their needs, whether it is recommending a service
upgrade to selling parts for their new build. I like hearing customers tell me how
happy they are with our suggestions and how knowledgeable and friendly we are.
