excellent motherboard with a great bios

the motherboard has a good layout, and the bios is easy to use and with enough advanced features to make overclocking easy. The components used are excellent, lots of slots, and the xmp ram boost seems promising.

A couple of issues are plaguing this board... 1) no documentation included - when you are building your computer and you need to know where all the inserts go - having to download the schematics for the mb is frustrating 2) having the serial number on the 24 pin is again, a poor choice when so much real estate is available on the top of the board. 3) the pci slot clamps are a bit cheap - very easy to break if one is not careful 4) have your lan drivers on the usb when installing

Minus a few nagging issues, this motherboard is probably the best one on the market - especially from a price/performance wise viewpoint

Great begginner board

-BIOS Flashback -2.5G Ethernet -4 M.2 Slots -Easy to use XMP and CPU clock buttons in BIOS -Built sturdy, with plenty of support. -Decent onboard audio -Plenty of RGB and Fan headers

-Poor BIOS Design -No BIOS network update -Intel VMD can be a bit buggy -Little to no documentation included -Difficult to find information on which M.2 is 3rd gen (It's slot 3, for future reference)

Overall a really great board. BIOS Flashback is a must have for beginners and general users alike for when things go wrong, and the board itself is built really well, no complaints here.

The BIOS, while *mostly* functional, feels outdated and disorganized, not even including an OTA (Over the air) BIOS update feature.

Port selection is good, but included documentation is lack luster.

A rather safe bet

-Well built and sturdy. 6 Mounting points which is nice. -Flashback is an absolute life saver; an essential feature on any motherboard; just trust me. -One click XMP profiles! Really beginner friendly. -Good selection of ports -4 M.2 slots! -Great port selection, still has PS/2! -A total of 6 Sata ports. -Passable audio setup.

-Included documentation is really poor. Doesn't explain which one of the M.2 slots is the Gen 3 slot (It's the one on the bottom left) -No online update for the BIOS. How is this still not a thing on these modern boards? -Low Compatibility with Windows PE installs for drivers. This could easily be an Intel issue though. -Confusing UI design for the advanced mode of the BIOS, organization could use some work. -More of a note; update your BIOS as soon as possible! If you had RAID (Intel VMD) enabled before, disable; boot your computer, and enable again. Drives should start appearing and working properly after that.

This is a really great board for a beginner, it's built really sturdy and the online documentation is good; but what's included is *really* lacking. I hope MSI could work on adding some more modern features like a BIOS that's able to pull updates on it's own, or even a reworked UI that's easier to navigate.
I also feel a lot of their features that are provided through software; should be available in the BIOS as well; like changing RGB settings.

Overall I've been happy with this motherboard, but I want to be very clear and honest about it's short comings. I have a lot of trust that I will be able to continue using this for a long period of time and slowly I will get used to how to wrangle it; but as a first impression on the latest MSI has to offer; they've come a long way.
